Boundaries

Boundaries can be complicated.

We have different sorts of boundaries with different people in different contexts and at different times. Sometimes it serves us to have flexible boundaries other times it serves us to have rigid boundaries. Sometimes we need help communicating and committing to the boundaries that feel healthiest for each of us. And sometimes it can be hard to know what is best for us. I believe that healthy boundaries begin with knowing ourselves and that finding our clear boundaries, whether emotional energetic or physical, serves everyone in all our relations.

Boundaries potion is a blend of different plants, all associated with personal and energetic boundaries selected not only to help us enforce and be strong in our boundaries but also to nurture us in our own learning about where and when those boundaries are needed.

devil's club

Devil's Club inner bark (Oplopanax horridus) is a plant of boundaries like no other with sharp thorns and a reputation for keeping unwanted energies away with ferocity. In places where it grows, branches of Devil's Club are used to set boundaries around living spaces and taken as medicine for moving towards energetic clarity.

Red Cedar tips (Thuja plicata) long known around the world where it grows as a sacred medicine for protective and cleansing qualities, it is also used to support people recovering from times when boundaries have been crossed in harmful ways.

Hawthorn berries (Crataegus spp.) is a plant both of boundaries in the physical sense with sharp thorns often growing in hedge rows and also of spirit boundaries with long tradition of being a tree of portal and connection to the realm of faerie. As a tree of both opening and closing boundaries it brings a crone wisdom that we can learn from.

Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca) brings a nourishing mothering energy but also with sharp thorns and the fierceness of a protective mother. Motherwort brings a calming heart energy that can settle reactivity and bring forth discernment in feeling into what boundaries are nourishing for us to hold.

wild rose

Wild Rose (Rosa nutkana) evokes love, sensuousness and soft opening that reminds us how pleasurable it can be to let others into our hearts and private spaces. A plant also with sharp thorns that grows in impenetrable hedges rose also brings discernment and supports us in finding where and when to say "no".

Nettles (Urtica dioica), a plant of boundaries with stinging consequences when crossed, also energizes us and the other plants in the potion to work together in synergy.

Infused with obsidian, a gemstone formed when the fire of the Earth meets water and alchemizes into a sharp and reflective volcanic glass, it is a stone formed of boundaries meeting.

Witch crafted in Samhain ritual, a time of year when boundaries are known to be thin between this world and others. Evoking the energy of the Samhain recognizes that even when circumstances wear us this we still have the power to choose what we allow through and what we do not.

Supported in crafting by a circle of black wolves to hold clear and powerful boundaries.
